BOIRE, Eugene
1940 – 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Eugene ‘Gene’ Joseph Boire on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the Red Deer Hospice. Gene was born on the family farm near Leoville, Saskatchewan, on May 1, 1940. He lived a full and remarkable life, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work and cherished memories. Gene will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Barbara. Together they built a beautiful family, including their three daughters, Leanne (Bruce), Donna-Lynn (Stuart) and Sheryl. He was a proud grandfather to Cori-Lynn (Frank), Aaron (Michaela), Kiara (Gary) and Zachary (Brittany), and a great grandfather to Corbin, Carter, Maria and Emerley. His family was his greatest joy, and he always found time to share stories, laughter and wisdom with them. Over the years, Gene pursued a variety of occupations, each one reflecting his dedication and strong work ethic. He started out as a mechanic in his own garage before becoming a familiar face as an Old Dutch potato chip salesman. Later, the family moved to Alberta where they owned and operated hotels before transitioning into New Home sales with Avalon Homes, Abbey Homes and Laebon Homes. Regardless of his role, Gene was known for his integrity, humor and ability to connect with people. Outside of work, Gene embraced life to the fullest. He and Barb spent their winters in Yuma, Arizona enjoying the sunshine and lifelong friends they made along the way. He loved to travel, golf, hunt and fish, but perhaps his favorite pastime was sitting around the campfire, (after all the work was done) beer in hand, sharing stories with friends and family. Dad, we miss you more than words can express. Your love, wisdom and unwavering support shaped us into who we are today. We cherish the memories of our time together and will carry them with us every day. Thank you for being the incredible father and friend that you were. We love you. A Celebration of Gene’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if desired, Memorial Donations in Gene’s honor may be made directly to STARS at www.stars.ca or to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com.
