Charges laid after weekend police presence in north Red Deer

Charges have been laid after a series of alleged crimes which caused a heavy police presence in north Red Deer over the weekend.

It was around 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 when police advised they were searching for a suspect in the Kentwood area.

About four hours later, RCMP advised the incident was over.

On Monday, police said they had initially responded to a report of an unknown male who’d allegedly entered the backyard of a home in Oriole Park, and stole a parked vehicle. The man was identified, and tracked to Kentwood, but could not be located, which is when the police presence ended.

Police also clarified Monday that they did not believe there to be any risk to the public at the time.

Sunday morning, police received a report of a break and enter to a Kentwood home, where a vehicle was once again stolen. That vehicle was located, abandoned, a short time later.

Officers then quickly tracked down the suspect, and he was arrested without further incident.

As a result of their investigation, Red Deer RCMP have charged Jordan Bell-Blowers, a 28-year-old resident of Red Deer, with the following offences:

  • Break and enter with intent
  • Robbery
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Jordan Bell-Blowers was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. They are scheduled to appear in court today, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
