1958 – 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Valerie ‘Val’ Ann Kowalchuk, who left us after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the age of 67 years. She left this world surrounded by love, with her partner, Glenn Collins, her beloved daughters, Carmen Kowalchuk, Melody Stephenson, Kristy White, and Nichole Kostiw, and her cherished brother, Warren Ferguson. Val’s strength, determination, and humor never wavered, even in her most difficult moments. She could still share a smile or give “the look” when it was needed most. She is now reunited with her parents, Connie and John Ferguson, her brother, Doug, and her late husband, Dale Kowalchuk. Her legacy of love and strength lives on in the hearts of her family and those who were fortunate to know her. Val was also deeply loved by her many grandchildren and her one great grandchild, who brought her immense joy and pride. She had a special place in her heart for her amazing sons-in-law, who she appreciated for the love, care, and happiness they brought to her daughters and family. She cherished the lifelong friendship and unwavering support of her best friends, Doug and Betty Ford, who have been an integral part of her life since Junior High. Their love and bond were a source of great comfort and happiness throughout her journey. Val had a deep love for the mountains, and at a later date, we will honor her life surrounded by the beauty she adored.
