COMBATTING HOMELESSNESS

New Homeless Foundation for Red Deer Region announces official board of directors

Feb 7, 2025 | 4:33 PM

The Homeless Foundation for Red Deer Region is excited to introduce its new board of directors who will guide the organization’s future efforts.

The Foundation was established on Feb. 5, 2024, and a transition team has been working diligently since to recruit a permanent board.

“When the Homelessness Taskforce presented their recommendations in April 2024, we committed to establishing a Homeless Foundation (Society) in Red Deer by December 31, 2024 – and we are proud to say, mission accomplished!” says Lyn Radford, Founding President and Chair of the Foundation.

The board of directors is composed of the following volunteer members:

  • Matt Cassidy – President & Chair
  • John Young – Secretary
  • Ryan Krutzfeldt – Treasurer
  • Jim Cramer
  • Doug Doran
  • Josh Hall
  • Kathy Lacey
  • Pat Moore
  • Dan Ouwehand
  • Dustin Quirk
  • Lyn Radford
  • Scott Robinson
  • Linda Yargeau

The Foundation says these members provide a wealth of experience, skill sets and fresh perspectives that will propel it forward in its mission to combat homelessness in the Red Deer region.

“I am very proud to be part of such an influential team of citizens who are ready to roll up their sleeves and look for solutions to address homelessness in our community,” says Matt Cassidy, President and Chair of the Homeless Foundation for Red Deer Region. “It’s not going to be easy, and it’s not going to be void of challenges, but with a strong board to engage our community members, Indigenous partners, on-the-ground agencies, and all levels of government, I am confident we will begin to make progress together and see positive results.”

Now that a board has been established, the Homeless Foundation for Red Deer Region is turning its focus to key objectives:

  1. Secure registered charity status
  2. Engage with community partners
  3. Collaborate with the City of Red Deer
  4. Define strategic outcomes

The Foundation extends thanks to the Homelessness Foundation Transition Team for their work, including: Art Anastasi, Bryan Pobihushchy, Gwen Clarke, Ian Milne, Jamil Charania, Kathy Lacey, Kimberley Worthington, Lyn Radford, Mark Jones, Dr. Michael Mulholland, Pat Moore, Ryan Krutzfeldt, Scott Robinson, and Talitha Klym.
