It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Sheila Southwick of Blackfalds, Alberta, who passed away at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the age of 64.

Sheila was born on June 22, 1960, in Calgary, Alberta, and grew up in both Calgary and Millerville, later completing her Grade 12 in Red Deer. She furthered her education with a post-secondary degree in paralegal studies, and spent many years in administrative roles at Lacombe Hospital, Innisfail Hospital, and Blackfalds Elementary School, where she made many lasting connections and touched the lives of those around her.

Sheila was a beloved wife to her husband, Daryl Southwick, and a proud mother to three sons: Kyle Ibbotson (Kim) of Lacombe, Alberta; Cody Ibbotson (Amber) of Medicine Hat, Alberta; and Colten Southwick (Hannah) of Spruce Grove, Alberta. She was also a devoted grandmother to eight cherished grandchildren. Sheila is survived by her brother, Yost Kieboom (Jamie) of Lacombe, Alberta, and her sister, Alma Taylor (Barry) of Calgary, Alberta. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Adriana Kieboom.

Sheila’s legacy is one of kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A public Celebratory Come and Go Reception in honor of Sheila’s life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
