Red Deer opens applications for new Downtown Governance Committee

The City of Red Deer is seeking applicants for a new committee focused on Downtown Governance.

The committee will be responsible for exploring options and proposing strategies to address evolving needs of Red Deer’s downtown.

City officials say the committee will play a role in shaping the future of downtown in a manner that creates better coordination, adaptable leadership and sustainable funding models that address the needs of businesses, residents and the broader community.

Officials hope to find residents committed to finding solutions to complex challenges, fostering collaboration and driving results, and more specifically:

  • One historic downtown business owner
  • One Capstone business owner
  • One Railyards business owner
  • One greater downtown resident
  • One employee of the greater downtown
  • Three community members at large
  • One member of the Downtown Business Association board
  • One member of the Chamber of Commerce board
  • One member of the Red Deer Tourism board

Applications can completed online and must be submitted before Jan. 29, 2025.
