Mr. Dwayne Gordon Dreeshen of Pine Lake, Alberta passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary, Alberta on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the age of 59 years. Dwayne was born at Innisfail, Alberta on March 7, 1965 to parents, Herman and Verna Dreeshen. The much younger brother was welcomed by his three older brothers, Alan, Earl, and Russell. Dwayne attended school in Innisfail and excelled at many sports at the Innisfail High School. Upon graduation, he attended the Red Deer College before returning to the family farm. Dwayne lived and farmed in the Pine Lake district for the rest of his life. He also ran a successful custom spraying business for many years. Dwayne’s love of sports continued throughout his adult life, where he excelled in fastball, slow pitch, hockey, and surf boating. He was a great community volunteer, serving with the Crossroads Agricultural Society and with the United Grain Growers as a regional director. He also was an enthusiastic political volunteer. Dwayne was an active participant with the German Canadian Club of Red Deer and especially enjoyed helping with the Canada Day celebrations. He also loved dancing and preforming throughout Alberta, most recently with his friends in the Red Aces Dance Club of Red Deer and passion for his new Ukrainian dance partners that opened up a new world for him. Dwayne bravely faced and managed a serious medical condition known as aplastic anemia for the past seven years, before succumbing to this condition. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Arthur J. E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre and the Foothills Medical Centre ICU Unit for their wonderful care.
Dwayne is lovingly remembered by his brothers, Alan (Barbara) of Red Deer, Alberta, Earl (Judy) of Pine Lake, Alberta, and Russell (Jody) of Innisfail, Alberta, as well as his nieces and nephews, Tony, Kim and Mark, Megan and Devin, and Pamela and Annette, along with many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Verna Dreeshen, and a niece, Katie Bainbridge (Dreeshen). Dwayne will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
