Mr. Vernon Mizera of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the age of 90 years. Vernon was born in Roundhill, Alberta to Joseph and Mary Mizera. Vernon and Agnes married in April of 1956 and cherished their sixty-eight years of marriage. Vernon worked in the Oil and Gas Industry until his retirement. Vernon and Agnes enjoyed the travel life after retirement and were able to travel to forty different countries and fifty US States, as well as the Canadian Provinces. By far, Vernon’s favorite place to visit was the Hawaiian Islands. He loved his family, helping his three children renovate their homes, and he was always helping his three grandchildren with something. Vernon loved a great meal, and a special dessert enjoyed with family and friends. He was a huge hockey fan with his favorite teams being the WHL Red Deer Rebels and of course the Toronto Maple Leafs. Vernon will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Agnes (nee Pringle); his two sons, Kerry (Sharon) of Innisfail, Alberta, and Kelly (Maureen) of Red Deer, Alberta; his daughter, Gail Skage (Rick) of Red Deer, Alberta, and his three grandchildren; Nicholas, Kjirsti , and Jesse. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Louis (Faye) of Creston, British Columbia and his many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. Vernon was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary, his five brothers and his nine sisters. At Vernon’s request no formal service will be held.
