Train and boom apparatus collide in Didsbury

On Monday, RCMP responded to a collision involving a train and a boom apparatus in Didsbury.

The collision occurred around 11:30 at the 20 Avenue crossing. Secondary Highway 582, as well as 23 Street and 19 Avenue were blocked for some time.

“Initial investigation shows that the zoom boom had mechanical trouble while crossing the tracks and became immobile,” police say.

“Unfortunately, this occurred as a train was approaching, and the train collided with the zoom boom on the tracks.”
