City of Red Deer launches ‘The Clog’ campaign
The City of Red Deer has launched “The Clog” campaign, which is an annual initiative to educate residents on what can’t be flushed or put down the drain.
The City of Red Deer says it has experienced blockages throughout the communities sewer pipes known as clogs which can sometimes be caused from improper disposal of items such as fat, oil, grease, and disposable wipes.
Officials note, these clogs can lead to costly repairs for both the City and its residents. Through the campaign, the city is reminding Red Deerians that if they avoid disposing those items down the drain, it can help prevent these blockages, repair costs, and potential harm to the environment and property.
“Flushing or pouring non-flushable items down a drain can cause blockages, or ‘clogs’ that can lead to costly repairs for homeowners and for The City,” said Phil Boehme, Community Development Coordinator.
