Red Deer RCMP arrest two men for stolen vehicle

The Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Unit have charged two individuals involved in a stolen vehicle incident on Oct. 31.

With the assistance of Red Deer RCMP General Duty Officers, the Downtown Patrol Unit, and Police Dog Services, they apprehended two men at approximately 3:27 p.m. after officers identified the stolen vehicle at a business in downtown Red Deer.

The passenger attempted to flee the scene on foot but was arrested following a brief pursuit. The driver of the vehicle was also apprehended.

As a result, Red Deer’s Saleem El-Majzoub, 39, has been charged with driving with no insurance, no registration, and with an unauthorized plate. He’s also charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of property obtained over $5,000.

In addition, there are charges of failure to comply with a release order, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, flight from police, resisting arrest, fraudulent concealment, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

El-Majzoub was taken before Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. He last appeared in court on Nov. 4 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.

Red Deer’s Anthony Deck, 31, was charged with resisting arrest and theft under $5,000.

He was also remanded into custody after appearing before Justice of the Peace. His last court date was on Nov. 4 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
