1936 ~ Gary Shannon ~ 2024 "In Gary's honour, a private family Celebration of Life with be held at a later date."

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Shannon on October 18, following a lengthy illness.
Gary was born May 22, 1936 in Vancouver and returned to Red Deer with his parents 6 weeks later. He attended school in Red Deer and was active in Army Cadets. Gary’s first job was as a tinsmith with Gilleland Sheet Metal installing furnaces. Later he worked for 1 year at the PTS (Ash) helping the machinist rebuild a steam engine generator that has been purchased by the Alberta Government from the Nordegg Coal Mine.
Winding coils for heavy duty transformers was the next job at Pioneer Electric.
An opportunity presented itself to become a fireman in the power plant at the PTS which led to a career in power plant engineering and property management for 36 years.
After retirement Gary continued property management with Edon Management and part time Justice of the Peace in Medicine Hat.
Left to mourn are his wife Loree of 69 years, 2 sons, James (Tracy) of rural Olds, Bradford, 1 daughter Stacy (Todd) and 3 grandchildren, Miranda Lowe, Brenna Shannon and Chris Lowe, all of Calgary and 1 brother, Michael Shannon of Red Deer.
