Joyce Marilyn Alton (nee Bownes)
Peacefully on October 18, 2024 Joyce passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 87.
Joyce was born in Killam, AB on June 8th, 1937.
Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Lori Alton, Cheryl Alton (Murray); grandchildren Ashley Barnes (Robb), Cole Alton and Megan Alton; great grandchildren Bowen and Noah Barnes; siblings Shirley Spencer (Doug), Marion Spady (Don) and Ed Bownes (Edna); nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband Sidney Robert Alton, her son Robert Douglas Alton and her parents Hugh and Mary Bownes (nee Mallett).
Joyce loved her career as an RN for over forty years, always helping others. She was a beautiful pianist, crafter extraordinaire and she was the life of the party always enjoying music and dancing. Joyce and Sid raised their three children in Sherwood Park, AB and then enjoyed many years of lakefront living at Island Lake, AB.
Joyce lived at The Pines Lodge for 13 years, both the staff and her Lodge Family were an important part of her life.
The Family is sincerely grateful to the staff at The Hamlets in Red Deer County where she resided and the staff at the Red Deer Regional Hospital for their care of Joyce.
A memorial service will be held at the Pioneer’s Lodge located at 4324 – 46A Avenue, in Red Deer on November 8th, at 1pm.
