Mrs. Helen Henry Dell (nee Torrie) of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the age of 97 years. Helen was born on April 11, 1927 at Niagara Falls, New York, United States. She lived in many parts of Canada after she married the love of her life, Lloyd Harvey Dell. Lloyd was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and they moved across the country with his career. Helen and Lloyd raised their three children while moving around Canada. They were married for forty-five years. Helen was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and participated in many Remembrance Day Ceremonies. She continued her Legion activities after Lloyd passed away. Helen joined the Legions in Prince Edward Island and Red Deer after she moved from Niagara Falls, Canada in 2014. Helen spent the last twenty years of her life in Red Deer, closer to her youngest son, Tim. Over the years, Helen gathered many bowling awards including being a member of the Canada Winter Games Senior Bowling Team from P.E.I. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Leslie (Glenda) of Nova Scotia and Tim (Charlene) of Red Deer; and her daughter, Laurie Bloom (Harley) of Ottawa, Ontario; her six grandchildren, Ryan, Adam, Kiera, Dana, Keah and Terry; and her three great grandchildren, Jack, Cara and Wyatt. Helen was also a special step grandmother to Jayden Bouchard, and Kristy and Kassie Hall. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lloyd; her son, Donnie; and her two brothers, Charles and James Torrie, both of Niagara Falls, New York. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. A Private Family Celebration will be held at Niagara Falls in the summer of 2025.
