The family of Mrs. Maureen Moore are saddened to announce her passing in Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the age of 63 years. Maureen was born in Viking, Alberta on October 2, 1961. She was the ninth child of Bert and Mary Armitage. Maureen was born with an inactive thyroid, which was the result of her health issues. As a child Maureen enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, attending birthday parties, camping and travelling with family, bowling, crafts, especially rug hooking, and making puzzles. As soon as she was born, she was an Auntie as Paralee is a year older than Maureen and she liked to tease Paralee about being “old”. Maureen went on many holidays with her mom and dad, Betty and Clifton, travelling to Winnipeg, Manitoba to visit her brother Herb and Debbie, to British Columbia, and travelling through the United States visiting family and friends. She attended Winifred Stewart School in Edmonton, a school in Lloydminster, and Falcon Enterprises in Wainwright. This is where she met the love of her life, Patrick Moore. They dated for five years and got married in 1988. They had a celebration and renewed their vows on April 15, on their thirty-fifth anniversary at the Pioneer Lodge. Maureen will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband, Pat, her siblings, Bill (Hjordis) Armitage, Betty (Clifton) Holt, Herb Armitage, John (Ardele) Armitage, Don (Iris) Armitage, Doris Priddle and Ben (Carol) Armitage, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Mary Armitage, her sister, Joyce, her brother-in-law, Don Priddle, her sister-in-law, Deborah Armitage, her nephew-in-law, Dwight MacKay and her great nephew, Levi Holt. A Memorial Service will be held at the Elks Hall, 6315 Horn Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca or to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada at www.crohnsandcolitis.ca.
