With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Emil Thomas Paries, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the age of 86 years. Emil is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Cleo Delvoir (Jackie) Paries, and their four cherished children: Randy Paries (Kelly) AZ, Calvin Paries (Sue) CO, Wendy Bledsoe (Bill) FL, Sandra Fawcett (Allan) AB and his sister, Rosemarie Helm. Emil is predeceased by his mother, Margaret Paries; his father, Wilhelm Paries; his brothers, Bill, Alvin, and Herb Paries; and his grandson, Kory Paries. His legacy will continue through his grandchildren: Kyle (Natalie), Kameron, Kory (deceased), Kris (Lillie), Cassandra (Seth), Christina, Jasper (Taylor), Justine, Jake, Chloe, Ashlyn, and Riley. Emil also leaves behind great-grandchildren Alexander, Benjamin, Isaac, Zachary, Kory, Liam, Abigail, June, Daisy, Bella, Ryker, Adalyn, Emil was a dedicated serviceman, proudly serving in the Navy for five years. His commitment to service continued when he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, where he devoted 21 years of his life. Emil and Jackie looked forward to their annual trips to Yuma, Arizona, where they escaped the Calgary winters. They enjoyed golfing together and savoring delicious date shakes, creating cherished memories during their time in the sun. Emil’s passion for sports was evident in his dedication to coaching minor hockey and football. He took immense pride in mentoring young athletes and watching them grow not only in their sports but also in their personal lives. His lifelong friendship with Chuck Brosh was pivotal in establishing minor league flag football in Calgary, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Family camping trips were a cherished tradition, bringing everyone together around the campfire. Emil took up golf later in life; it quickly became one of his true passions, providing him countless hours of enjoyment.
