It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announced the passing of Patricia Joan Martens of Red Deer County Alberta on September 19th, 2024, at the age of 76 after a long and courageous battle with cancer in the Red Deer Hospice. Patricia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and treasured friend to many. Born with a natural talent for nurturing and creativity, she spent her life sharing her passion for the beauty of the world with everyone around her.
Married to her devoted husband Jack Martens in 1965, Patricia embraced a life of love, family, and dedication. Together they built a life of hard work and joy. She was her husband’s steadfast partner, not only in life but also in business, managing the books for their farming and backhoe business. Her skill and organization extended beyond her home as she also served as the office manager at Care Chiropractic clinic where her warmth and competence touched the lives of many.
Earlier in life her love for children led her to a career as an assistant kindergarten and play school teacher, where she brought kindness patience and creativity into the lives of countless young minds. Children thrived in her care and the joy she found in their company was always evident.
Patricia was a woman of many talents and an active member of her community in Delburne. She had a remarkable gift for art, expressing herself through painting, photography, and pottery. Each piece reflecting the beauty she saw in the world. Her hands were never idle, whether she was working in her garden nurturing her plants with the same care she gave to her family or spending peaceful moments bird watching. Nature was her sanctuary, and she found endless happiness in its simplicity and grace.
Her life was filled with love, laughter, and moments spent with family friends and neighbours. She cherished time with others, whether it was through a heartfelt conversation, doing puzzles together or simply enjoying each other’s company.
Patricia will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her devotion to her family, her boundless creativity, and the way she made every person she met feel valued and loved. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and beauty that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband of nearly six decades Jack, her children, grandchildren and countless family, friends and neighbours who lives were forever brightened by her presence.
