REDUCED TO TWO ENTRANCES

Hospital construction prompts parking and traffic flow changes

Oct 10, 2024 | 1:50 PM

Patients and visitors of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) should expect to see changes to traffic flow and parking options at the facility as work continues on the parkade, and hospital expansion.

The three public entrances to the RDRHC will be reduced to two:

  • The entrance from 50A Avenue will remain open to one-way traffic effective Oct. 15, with traffic exiting to 39 Street. Motorists are advised to pay close attention to access signage.
  • The entrance from 39 Street, accessed from the west off 52 Avenue, is to remain open.
  • The entrance from 52 Avenue, between the west public parking lot and Central Alberta Cancer Centre (CACC) parking lot will be closed effective Oct. 15.

The west public parking lot will also be closed, effective Oct. 15. A portion of the CACC lot will also be closed, and members of the public are asked to reserve the spaces for patients of the CACC and their family.

The public is asked to park at the south parkade, which is still in operation as construction is underway. Work on expanding the parkade continues to necessitate the closure of 39 Street between 51 Avenue and 52 Avenue.

Pay machines for parking are located at both the hospital’s and CACC’s main entrances.

Signage and flag persons are on site to direct traffic. Motorists are asked to slow down when driving through the site and obey directions. Pedestrians are also asked to keep to posted sidewalks for their safety around construction traffic.

Construction updates on projects happening at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre can be found online.
