Henry Joseph Descheneau

Henry Joseph Descheneau, (Des or Sonny) 82, of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024, surrounded by his wife and two daughters, at the Red Deer Hospital.
He was born to parents Adolphe Henry Robert Descheneu and Mabel (Gladue) Descheneau on November 30, 1941, in Camrose Alberta. His mother passed away, while Henry was very young at the age of 2. His father passed away, when Henry began his family. He had two sisters, Donna (passed away as a newborn) and Irene. Henry and Irene were raised by his Grandma and many Aunts and Uncles in Camrose. After high school, Henry entered the navy where he served for 5 years, while in Victoria B.C. he met his wife Sandra. They celebrated 61 years of marriage together February 2, 2024.
Henry is survived by his wife Sandra, and their four children. He will be lovingly remembered by his oldest daughter, Shirley (Jason) Simmons and their three children, Greg, Brad and Nicole. His second daughter, Caroline, (Dave) Johanson and their three children, John (Taryn), Mike, Toni and her son, and only grandson Dexter. His two sons, Dan (Brittany) and Rob Descheneau, along with some extended family and friends.
Henry loved all sports, classic cars and camping with his family, along with his sister Irene and her family. He was a longtime employee of Nova Chemicals, Joffre Alberta, when he retired. After raising his family, Henry and his wife were able to take some trips together, visiting Mexico and Jamaica.
Family will gather at the Altos Reste Cemetery 3.6 km east of 30 Avenue on Highway 11
Red Deer (Scattering Gardens) Saturday, Oct 26, 2024. Please join the family at the Balmoral Hall Hwy 11 East (across from Parkland Nurseries) for refreshments and fellowship, Oct 26. At 2 pm.
The family is grateful to the Red Deer hospital for all his wonderful care over the last year.
