Mrs. Florence Ann ‘Flo’ Vanstone (nee Walker) of Red Deer passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the age of 85 years. Flo was born and raised in Claresholm, Alberta, where she met and married Don Vanstone. They lived and worked in many towns in the province, retiring in Edmonton and then Calgary. Flo’s outgoing and friendly nature helped her find friends wherever she went, and she enjoyed the social aspects of curling and dancing, in particular. Flo and Don could really cut a rug!
After a brain injury, her world got a little smaller, but she still loved travelling with Don, with friends, and with her children. Poolside in the sunshine was her happy place. Her sense of fun and humour always came through, and she loved to laugh and go for outings right up until the end of her life. Flo will be lovingly remembered by her children, Beverley, Karen (Wayne), and Glen (Stacy); her grandchildren, Joe, Cailen, Colton and Keegan; and her sister, Moira and her children, Michael, Adrienne and Laura. Flo was predeceased by her husband, Don, her parents, her brother and a grandson. The family wishes to thank the staff at Taylor View Towers and the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and care of Flo. A Celebration of Flo’s Life will be planned at a later date. If desired, Memorial Donations in Flo’s honor may be made directly to the Charity of the Donor’s choice.
