Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools is celebrating its third cohort pf students who are starting their studies in the Veterinary Technical Assistant Program, offered through Olds College of Agriculture and Technology as part of the division’s dual credit program.

The one-year certificate program introduces students to the veterinary industry in an entry-level position. Working with small animals, students receive instruction from Olds College instructors and and get hands-on learning experience through weekend labs at Olds.

“We are incredibly proud to see another cohort of students embark on their journey through the Veterinary Technical Assistant Program at Olds College. This opportunity not only equips our students with valuable skills and hands-on experience but also opens the door to future careers in the animal health industry. It’s inspiring to witness their dedication and growth as they prepare for success in this unique field,” said Murray Hollman, Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools Board Chair.

These students will convocate from Olds College before they graduate from high school, and are expected to be fully prepared to enter a career in animal health or pursue continued post-secondary education in animal sciences, added Career Pathways Coordinator Tracey Millar.
