incidents never reported

If you see it, report it, Ponoka RCMP urge

Sep 11, 2024 | 7:48 PM

Ponoka RCMP say they are aware that several local incidents have been discussed on social media this year but were never reported to the detachment.

That’s why they are urging the public to report something if they see something.

“Accurate timely reporting of crime is essential for our officers to not only effectively investigate and solve crime, but also to proactively direct resources to combat emerging trends,” says Staff Sergeant Erin St-Cyr, Detachment Commander of the Ponoka RCMP.

“We encourage everyone who is a victim of a crime to report to your local detachment, and we ask that you be willing to provide your account as a witness to help ensure an effective prosecution and secure a conviction in court.”

They also note that up-to-date crime stats, information and community trends are available on the Alberta RCMP app.

Ponoka RCMP are hosting a town hall this fall and hope the public comes out. More details will be released in the near future.
