Stella June Murray (nee-Cormack) passed away peacefully in the early morning of December 8, 2023

Stella was born to Robert and Annie Cormack on June 17, 1935. She was the youngest of seven children.

Stella was predeceased by her parents Robert and Annie Cormack, her sisters and brothers, Mary, Rennie, Margaret, Betty, Bill and Jean. Her infant son George and son-in-law Victor Ogrodiuk.

Stella leaves to mourn her loss, her 2 daughters and son-in-laws Debbie and Randy Wosnack, Coly and Kevin  Gutekunst. Her beloved  Grandchildren Kilee  (Andy) Dovichak, Darren ( Margie ) Ogrodiuk. Her Great Grandchildren Drew, Aleksandra and Matthew Dovichak. Braxton Bonds. Extended family Tianna, Barry, Harlan and Arya Hesby. Scott, Cortney, Hudson and Kaysen Wosnack. Jane Duncan, Elizabeth Diggon, Kevan Hayes and Edie Hayes. Jim Duncan and the McWilliams family. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Stella resided in Red Deer with her life long partner Ian Duncan for the past 42 years. She was an avid bridge player. During tournament times, Ian always had her van fueled and ready for the group to go. Stella actually loved all card games. Many good times and many nickels and dimes were exchanged with family and friends.

Stella loved to bake. We especially loved her Christmas baking. She kept us all well stocked. Stella loved ironing even more. When she came to visit, our ironing baskets were emptied and you would find your closets all neat, in order and everything ironed. We truly wanted to inter an iron with her.

Stella also loved to knit, especially dish cloths. I’m sure there is not one of us here today that does not have at least one in your linen closet. I’m trying to take over this role, but it’s a very slow process.

Stella and Ian spent many winters in Sun City, Arizona. They enjoyed their time with friends and family.

There were two special people in Stella’s life, her niece, Sandy Davis, and over the past few years, Sharon Murphy from Comfort Keepers. All we can say is “ Thank You “ to you both.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Red Deer Hospice, Homecare and staff at Inglewood Retirement home.

When we were going through some of Stella’s things, we came across this poem in her own hand writing. We feel it’s very fitting.

I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me I took his hand when I heard him call I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day, to laugh, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,  as yes these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you sunshine of tomorrow, my life’s been full, I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free.
