A hole-in-one, plus a top-10 finish for local golfers at recent tournaments

Local golfers have wrapped up another slate of competition across the country.

Starting last week, Tim Hollman of Olds shot a final round +6, which dropped him 32 spots down the leaderboard where he finished T45th with a final score of +8.

But earlier in the Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship at The Carleton Golf and Yacht Club in Manotick, Ontario, Hollman hit a hole-in-one and was in 13th headed to the final round.

Red Deer’s Derek Crichton finished T57th, finishing +11 with a third round 69 (-1).

The winner was Cam Burke of Kitchener, ON who finished -14, nine strokes better than the two next best competitors.

This week, the 2024 Canadian Women’s Senior Championship was held at The Club at North Halton in Georgetown, Ontario.

The winner was Terrill Samuel of Etobicoke, ON at -2.

The top Albertan, meantime, was Lacombe’s Lynn Kuehn in T14th with a three round score of +20.

Lacombe’s Carla Jean Smith withdrew after two rounds at +32.

Finally, out at the Alberta Men’s Super Senior Championship at Acheson, Alberta’s The Ranch Golf & Country Club, here’s how local golfers stacked up against the winner.

Winner – David Schultz – Calgary: +4

Gary Ritchie – Olds: +15 (10th)

Keith Newton – Olds: +16 (13th)

Boman Husted – Red Deer: +41 (61st)

Stephen Keeley – Lacombe: Withdrew
