The family of Mr. Albert Emilo Azzara are saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the age of 69 years. Albert was born on September 1, 1954 in Lethbridge, Alberta. He graduated from WCHS, and then attended the University of Lethbridge from 1973 until 1979, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and a Bachelor of Education in English. In 1979, Albert moved to Red Deer and began his very successful teaching career, beginning at Eastview Junior High School. He would then spend the next twenty-five years at Glendale Junior High School, before retiring in 2010. If you remember that one teacher you had in school, the one that was special to you, or maybe made a difference in your life… we believe Albert may have been that teacher to many of his former students. He loved his ‘kids’. Albert was very much involved in the Theatre community for well over forty years. Albert’s love for theatre was soon realized while becoming an active member of Lethbridge Playgoers and Lethbridge Musical Theatre. In Red Deer, Albert spent many years performing with the Central Alberta Theatre and Red Deer Players Society. He was a very talented playwright, director and actor. His passion for the arts was apparent on stage and he loved making people laugh. We believe Albert had a huge impact on the arts community both in Lethbridge and Red Deer. Albert will be lovingly remembered by his half siblings, Cindy Charles, Kelly (Denise) Elliott and Tina Marie (Michael) Wanner, as well as numerous family members and dear friends. Albert was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Lillian Elliott. If desired, we ask that you get out and support your local arts community in Albert’s honor or consider Central Alberta Theatre’s “Buy A Seat Fundraising Campaign” at www.centralalbertatheatre.ca. “The show must go on” Keep smiling and keep laughing. That is what Al would have wanted you all to do. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
