Provincial government to promote Alberta in Silicon Valley
Minister of Technology and Innovation Nate Glubish will travel to Silicon Valley to meet with top-tier tech companies to promote Alberta’s growing technology and innovation sector.
Government officials say he will be meeting with executives from Apple, Varian, Nvidia and Google to explore ways to advance Alberta’s adoption of technology and innovation to deliver better, faster and smarter services for Albertans, and collaboration opportunities for Alberta in alignment with the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy.
Officials say Alberta introduced its Technology and Innovation Strategy in 2022, laying out the government’s plan to grow the technology and innovation space in the province to $5 billion and 20,000 jobs by 2030. Over the past five years, the government says venture capital investment has grown by almost 50 per cent more than triple the average growth rate for the rest of Canada, and Calgary is making international lists as a market to watch, officials say.
“Technology is the future of every industry, and Alberta has put itself on the map as a tech sector leader. I look forward to meeting with these world-renowned experts and sharing how Alberta is an outstanding investment destination,” says Glubish.
