Red Deer father accused of assaulting his child

A 27-year-old Red Deer resident and father has been arrested and charged after his child was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.

Red Deer RCMP were notified of the child and their injuries by Child and Family Services. After additional investigation and consultation, it was determined that their injuries were consistent with an assault.

On June 27, 2024, officers arrested the father of the child, who was charged with

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Failing to provide the necessities of life
  • Criminal Negligence causing bodily harm

The accused was taken before a justice of the peace and was released from custody on numerous conditions.
