Mr. Peter Fai Ming Lew, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the age of 88 years. Peter was born in Toishan, Guangdong, China. In 1954, Peter immigrated to Alberta with determination, and just ten dollars in his pocket. He married Anna in 1962, and together they built a beautiful life in Red Deer, Alberta, raising four children and cherishing their five grandchildren: David (sons, Alex and Shawn), Leely (Owen), Doris (son, Keegan), and Tania (Randy, sons, Gunnar and Anders). Peter’s journey was one of hard work and unwavering dedication to his family. He spent a decade at the Club Cafe and later dedicated thirty years of his life to the Michener Centre, ensuring his loved ones had everything they needed. Despite his busy schedule, Peter always found time for his family, whether it was fishing on the Red Deer River and in the mountains, or taking trips around Alberta. In retirement, Peter and Anna embarked on many cruising adventures around the globe, creating cherished memories wherever they went. Yet, his greatest joy came from simple pleasures like tending to his vegetable garden and cheering on his grandchildren at hockey games. Peter will forever be remembered as a loving patriarch, a man of few words but with a heart of gold. Peter’s legacy of love and resilience will live on in the hearts of all the lives he has touched. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate nurses, doctors, and staff at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre for their exceptional care during Peter’s illness. A Celebration of Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer County, Alberta.
