Under the blue skies and warmth of the sun, our husband, dad, and papa, Garry George Brophy continued his onward journey home, surrounded by his family, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the age of 84 years. He slipped away quietly and peacefully, just as he lived his life, leaving silent footprints for us to cherish everlasting. Born on a farm in Eastend, Saskatchewan on December 29, 1939, Garry carried through life some traits that his grandfather, Fred, his father, Harry and his mother, Genevieve passed on to him. The simple art of making something beautiful with your hands describes Garry to a tee. Garry was the definition of perfection, spending countless hours on the things he loved most, his 1977 antique Lincoln, old country and western music, western movies, his beautiful yard, and building numerous projects. His pride was in his home and family, as well as the flourishing garden, that he and his wife of sixty-one years, Rita, nurtured summer after summer. His heart would brim with joy at the sight of his children, and his grandkids. Garry’s happiness extended beyond his family and friends to the various jobs he held over the years. His unwavering dedication was evident in everything he did, always striving to improve himself. This journey was a true testament to the kind of man he was, always striving to do his absolute best for his family. Garry George Brophy lived quietly, loved deeply, worked passionately and now rests peacefully. Garry will be dearly missed by his wife, Rita (nee Jensen); his son, Lance (Jacqollyne), and his daughter, Rochelle (Jeffery). Garry was a proud papa to Koltyn (Kailin), Mickayla (Curtis) and Alexis. He will also be sadly missed by many extended family members and friends. Garry was predeceased by his parents, Harry Fischer and Genevieve Brophy.
A special thank you to everyone who provided exceptional care for him and our family at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Units 31 and 32 Palliative Care. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Garry’s honor may be made directly to Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com.
Although Garry may have left this world, his legacy will continue to shine brightly, guiding us through the hard times and inspiring us to be the best versions of ourselves. A Celebration of Garry’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
