Robert James Cunningham
Robert James Cunningham passed away on April 18, 2024 at the Red Deer Hospice after a battle with cancer.
Bob was born in Brockville, Ontario on December 7, 1957 to Muriel (McMahon) and Robert Edward Cunningham. Bob grew up swimming, fishing and boating on the St. Lawrence River with his sisters Sharon and Sandra. As a child he loved playing in Baker’s park, and had a habit of bringing home unexpected pets.
Bob had a great lust for life. His favorite activities included camping with his children, barbecuing, going to the driving range, walking his dog, Matisse and snuggling his cat, Carli. His puppy, Biscuit, gave him great comfort in his final days. Bob loved listening to music in the evenings.
For over 15 years Bob worked for The Brick as a manager of the Brick Outlet store in north Red Deer and then as a Sales Associate at both Red Deer Brick locations. Bob had a competitive spirit that resulted in him winning the Shark Contest 7 years in a row, giving him and his wife, Metaxa vacations in several Caribbean countries. His favorite locale is Jamaica. Bob’s love of sun and sand also led him to taking a special trip to Mexico for his 65th birthday with his son, Corey.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Metaxa, his children Erin and Corey (from his previous marriage to Ann Marie Morin), and Corey’s fiancée Flordeles.
His gift of storytelling and his willingness to mentor others will make Bob dearly missed by many. He had so many wonderful qualities that made him a special individual.
Bob will be honored at a private celebration of life event. Please consider making a donation to the Red Deer Hospice Society in Bob’s name. Bob’s family would like to thank the staff of the Red Deer Hospice for providing exceptional end of life care.
