Audrey was born in Waddinxveen, Netherlands on July 23, 1946. At the age of 7, Audrey and her family immigrated to Canada arriving in Montreal on March 10, 1954 and settling in Chilliwack, BC. After high school, Audrey worked at a restaurant in Grand Forks, BC for a short time before she joined her father at a local turkey farm in Aldergrove, BC. In 1968, at the age of 22, she met and married Ted Oostenbrug in Abbotsford, BC. Soon after they welcomed the first of their three sons, Lance, in 1969, with James and Robert following soon afterward. In 1976, they moved to Red Deer, AB where Audrey worked for 16 years at ValleyPark Nursing Home. In 1988, Ted and Audrey purchased an acreage East of Red Deer. Later on, they opened True Blue Clothing and Giftware in Delburne, AB. In 2004, Audrey and Ted worked side by side building their catering business together. Retirement brought them nearly 10 years of wintering in Arizona. Unfortunately, due to Audrey’s ongoing health concerns, their snowbirding adventures came to an early close. Ted and Audrey then moved back into Red Deer in 2011 to make her medical care simpler.
Audrey enjoyed swimming, puzzles, reading, as well as numerous skilled crafts including cardmaking, sewing, quilting and knitting for both her family and community. However, she took the most joy in spending time with her family, especially her many grand and great grandchildren.
