RDP Athletics Athletes of the Week: February 20

Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Athletics is very proud to announce Autumn Roos (Queens Volleyball) and Zach Neufeld (Kings Volleyball) as The RDP Athletes of the Week:

Autumn Roos Queens Volleyball Program – Bachelor of Education Middle Years (3rd) Hometown – Ponoka, Alberta

In the final regular season match, middle blocker Autumn Roos was a difference maker for the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball team. Roos contributed a total of 17 points, which tied for the most on the team, and helped the Queens earn a four set win over the Olds College Broncos (25-20, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-23). The six-foot-one student-athlete from Ponoka accumulated 10 kills, four service aces, three digs, three blocks and one assist. Roos had a remarkable 0.714 hitting percentage.

The RDP Queens Volleyball team (13-6) finished second in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) South Division during the regular season. The Queens will face The King’s University Eagles in their opening match at the ACAC Championship in Lethbridge on Thursday, February 22.

Zach Neufeld Kings Volleyball Program – Business Administration General Management (3rd) Hometown – Edmonton, Alberta

This past weekend, six-foot-two outside hitter Zach Neufeld was a key contributor in the RDP Kings Volleyball team’s three set sweep over the Broncos (25-20, 25-17 and 25-16). In the final regular season match, Neufeld had six kills with an impressive 0.67 hitting percentage. The Business Administration General Management student added seven digs, one block and one of the team’s four aces in the road victory. For his outstanding performance, Neufeld was named Kings Player of the Game.

With the win, the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball team (16-3) solidified first place in the ACAC Men’s Volleyball South Division. On Thursday, February 22, the RDP Kings will play The King’s University Eagles in their first match at the ACAC Championship in Olds.
