It is with great regret that we announce that Donald Bruce ‘Don’ Holloway passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, after a good solid battle against health problems, on Friday, February 1, 2024 at the age of 76 years.
He began his life in Sudbury, Ontario, being active in the YMCA, and hockey, until College brought him to Calgary. It was there he continued with the YMCA, and met his future wife, Lois McNeil (formerly of Eckville, Alberta). He put down roots in Calgary, and was actively involved in the community, the Calgary Booster Club who originated the bid for the 1988 Olympics, coaching the Mount Royal Women’s Volleyball Team, and various sports, along with raising his two boys, Brad, and Kyle. He switched to becoming active in coaching and involved in their sports. He continued to partake in his love of hunting and golf, and in late 2022, Don and Lois moved to Sylvan Lake, where he spent his final year. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lois; his two sons, Brad and Kyle; and their partners, Melissa and Jackie; and his grandsons, Parker, Lachlan, Nolan, Corbin and Hank. Don was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Dorothy Holloway; and his brother, Ken Holloway, but leaves his two nephews, Taylor and Jesse Holloway of Sudbury, Ontario to remember him. He also leaves behind his sister, Sandy McCrindle (Norm Kee) of Ontario; and his nephews, Scott, James and Craig McCrindle of Ontario; his nephew, Ryan McNeil; his niece, Stacey Pacholek (McNeil) of Alberta, and John, Lisa, Wendy and Sandra (Hallett) of British Columbia.
