Livalle was born on August 13, 1933 to Mose and Tina Loewen in Didsbury, Alberta. Livalle was born on August 13, 1933, to Mose and Tina Loewen in Didsbury, Alberta. She was very close to her grandmother and went to church with her. They would stop for an ice cream cone on the walk home. Livalle moved to Benalto, Alberta at age 10 with her family. She missed Grandma Suderman so much she used to take the train to Didsbury to spend some weekends with her. Grandma Suderman led Livalle to the Lord. Because there was no high school in Benalto, Alberta, her father moved the family to Eckville, Alberta, where she graduated from Eckville High School. Livalle worked at the Eckville Post Office before taking a year of Nursing in Calgary, Alberta at the Foothills Hospital. Unfortunately, she fainted at the sight of blood, so she moved to Innisfail, Alberta where her parents lived. Livalle worked at Fred’s Food Market before her marriage. She met Jim Edgar at a dance and married him on February 27, 1955, the coldest day on record. Her flowers actually froze on the way to the church. In 1959, they moved to the Little Red Deer district where they raised their family. Livalle carried on her Christian heritage by taking her children to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Innisfail, Alberta. Jim and Livalle loved to go camping on their holidays traveling across Canada. They went on several camping trips with her brother Ralph and his wife Cathy, who became a dear friend of Livalle’s. They, also, went camping with Jim’s sister, Mary and her husband, George. Grant and Beth did a lot of camping with Livalle and when Beth was yelling at the grandchildren to set up their tents, Mom would say, “Beth, happy hour.” Then the grandkids could go play and explore. One of Trudy’s favorite memories was sitting at the kitchen table and Mom taking the time to color with her. Trudy then carried on this same tradition with her daughter and her granddaughter. Livalle was a member of the Little Red Deer Dorcas Women’s Institute. Robbin used to be so angry with Mom when she would go to the WI meetings and wasn’t home when he got off the bus. We were extremely privileged to have a stay-at-home mother who was consistently there for her children. Every time a new Dr. Seuss book came in the mailbox, Livalle would sit Georgie on the couch immediately and read her the story. When Georgie started playing flute and piccolo in the Innisfail Music Program, Livalle never missed a concert and always supported all the fundraisers so Georgie could travel with the IMP’s Band and later the Red Deer Symphonic Winds at Red Deer College. After Jim’s passing, she moved to Gleniffer Lake Resort where she retired. Livalle liked ladybugs and became known as the ladybug lady by everyone. Livalle loved her family dearly and would invite them over all the time. She adored her grandchildren Leah, Cameron, Scott, Samantha, Shelby, Stephen and Micah. Her precious grandchildren spent lots of time with her at the farm and the lake over the years. She enjoyed watching them swim in the pool or swim in Gleniffer Lake. They all loved visiting or staying overnight with Grandma. Livalle adored her great grandchildren Alyssa, Ayla and Max. Livalle was very touched when Alyssa’s middle name was Livalle and when Max was named after Jim as Maxwell was his first name. She loved when the great grandkids came out for halloween in August. Livalle liked seeing their costumes and seeing how much candy they came home with. She became a member of the Red Hatter’s while living at Gleniffer Lake. Livalle was so young at heart she got a Red Hatter’s hat tattooed on her ankle in her seventies. In June 2013, Georgie moved in to become her mother’s caregiver. Livalle insisted that Georgie become a Red Hatter with her, however, Georgie said no to a tattoo. Livalle’s granddaughter, Micah, got a tattoo of a ladybug with a Red Hatter’s hat on a sheath of barley on her ankle in remembrance of her grandmother and Papa. After moving to the lake, Livalle took up line dancing. She liked practicing every week and performing at certain events. Oftentimes you would see Livalle reading on her front or back deck for hours. She was able to live at Gleniffer Lake for eight more years with Georgie. They had so much enjoyment and special times making many more memories. The last couple of years at the lake, Livalle’s favorite thing to do was ride the golf cart around the resort in the morning and in the evening with Georgie. In 2021, Livalle moved to Parkvalle Lodge in Red Deer, Alberta where she lived for two years. Georgie continued to be her caregiver and visited faithfully every week. On August 13, 2023, the immediate family got together to throw a surprise 90th birthday party for Livalle which she thoroughly enjoyed. Livalle Edgar went to the lord at the Red Deer Hospice Society on Sunday, January 29, 2024 at the age of 90 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Trudy (Mitch) Carson of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Robbin and Georgie Edgar of Innisfail, Alberta, Grant (Beth) Edgar of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, her adored grandchildren, Leah and Cameron Carson, Scott, Samantha, Shelby, Stephen and Micah Edgar. Livalle will also be deeply missed by her great grandchildren, Alyssa Carson, Ayla and Max Edgar and her brother, Ralph (Cathy) Loewen. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Jim Edgar. A Celebration of Livalle’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 104 in the boardroom, 5108 49 Avenue, Innisfail, Alberta on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Livalle’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com, the Make-A-Wish Foundation at www.makeawish.ca or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
