Peterman and Team Lawes preparing for the Scotties in Calgary

Feb 1, 2024 | 12:03 PM

Red Deer’s Jocelyn Peterman will be back at it later this month at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary.

The curling event kicks off Feb. 16 at the WinSport Event Centre.

Peterman is part of Team Lawes, representing Manitoba, which won provincials last week to qualify, and that came right after a somewhat disappointing result at the Grand Slam of Curling in Red Deer.

Peterman, along with teammates Kaitlyn Lawes, Selena Njegovan and Kristin MacCuish, plus coach Connor Njegovan, in trying to win, will need to knock off Kerri Einarson’s team. That team has won four straight Canadian championships.

Team Lawes gets started Feb. 16 against Team Sturmay, representing Alberta.

Peterman won bronze with Alberta at the 2017 Scotties, while Lawes won gold in 2015, silver in 2011 and 2013, and bronze in 2012 (Red Deer), 2016 and 2020.
