Barbara Ann (Munro) Hopkins (1938 – 2023)
With sadness we announce the passing of Barbara Ann (Munro) Hopkins on 1 Sep 2023 at the age of 84.
Predeceased by her parents Robert & Edna Munro and older brother Bob Munro (all of Halifax).
Left to mourn are husband; Edward (Ted) Hopkins of Red Deer; daughter Joy of Sylvan Lake; three nephews: Scott, Shane & Derrick Munro (Halifax), cousin Connie Hamon (Pinawa, MB) and lifelong friend Kay Kenyon (Halifax). Relatives (by marriage) in Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba & Nova Scotia; as well as friends in Red Deer, Chilliwack & Abbotsford (BC).
Prior to marriage, Barb worked for Nova Scotia Light & Power (Halifax) as a Computer/Inventory Clerk. As well, she was president of the company’s social group, The Killowat Club, responsible for social commitments and donations to charities.
After marriage she followed Ted for the last portion of his naval career, which included postings to Halifax; Toronto & Esquimalt (BC). After this, the family lived in Abbotsford, Chilliwack (BC) and finally Red Deer.
Her spirit is now at home with Jesus.
Cremation has been conducted by Red Deer Funeral Home and her mortal remains are now resting in Plot 48 – B-3 in Alto Rest Cemetery, Red Deer.
