Gladys Marie Hollenbeck

Gladys Marie Hollenbeck of Red Deer, Alberta, born July 23, 1944, in Rimbey, Alberta, passed away in Lacombe on January 13, 2024, at the age of 79, with her daughter by her side after a strong two-year battle with lung cancer.
Gladys held many different jobs throughout her life in Central Alberta, including milk delivery, cashier at Super Sams, Save-Co, Debagies, Cobbs, Co-op, and Princess Auto and as a ticket taker/usher at the Red Deer Centrium to name a few. She will be missed by many close family and friends and her little buddy and light of her life Hunter who kept her going for these last two years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Denice Van Meter (two grandchildren and five great grandchildren), and Sherry Hollenbeck-Olson (Dennis) (One Grandchild); two step-daughters, Carolyn Hughes (Joey) (four grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren), and Rhonda Armstrong (three grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren); brother Tom (Carol) Reid; and her two brother in-laws, Dave Carriere and Don Grant.
She is predeceased by her parents John Reid and Lillian Reid; husbands Leonard Corbett and Ronald Hollenbeck; as well as by her sisters Doreen Carriere and Jessie Grant (Ritchie).
As per Gladys’ request, there is to be no funeral. A tea will be held January 27, 2024, at 1:00PM at Moose Hall, 140 Petrolia Drive, Red Deer County and a private family interment will be held in Rimbey in the spring of 2024. In lieu of flowers donations to the Central Alberta Cancer Centre would be appreciated. Condolences to Gladys’ family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
