1948 ~ Kenneth ‘Ken’ Wayne Peel ~ 2024 "He will remain forever in our hearts."

Kenneth ‘Ken’ Wayne Peel of Sylvan Lake, Alberta passed away unexpectedly, at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the age of 75 years. Ken was born on July 13, 1948 in Miniota, Manitoba, the son of George and Nellie (nee Leary). Ken attended school in Miniota, Manitoba and worked as a banker for most of his career. In 1971, he married his wife Shona (nee Lelond) and they were together until 2015. As a boy, Ken was part of the Miniota 4-H Calf Club, where he showed and sold Black Angus calves. At the age of fourteen, he bought a Pinto horse named Rocky, and bought a saddle and broke him to ride. Ken and Rocky had a very strong bond and went on many adventures together, including trail rides, cattle drives, fairs, and gymkhanas. Ken was a very good athlete and loved to play hockey, fastball, curling, and golf. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He also gave back to his community, as a long-serving member of the Lion’s Club, where he graciously volunteered many hours of his time. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his son, Darren and his wife, Brandi of Sylvan Lake, Alberta; and his son, Blair and his wife, Jennifer of Kamloops, British Columbia; his grandchildren, Austin, Gwendalyne, Brittan, and Russell and his great grandchildren, Emmett, Luke, and Hayden. He will also be sadly missed by his, brothers Robert (Catherine), Murray (Beverly); his sisters, Phyllis (Earl), and Joan (Bob), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families. In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his sister, Gladys, his brother-in-law, Earl Thompson, his nephew, Gordon Thompson, and his niece, Tannis Scheuerman. A Celebration of Life and scattering of Ken’s ashes will be held at a later date. He will remain forever in our hearts.
