Alwyn Dransfield (nee Clegg) passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the age of 84 years. She was born on June 20, 1939 in Burnley, Lancashire, England. Alwyn, an only child, grew up in a small town in England, and enjoyed art and spending days climbing through caves with friends. She had several tortoises as pets. She studied Art and English at the University of Liverpool, before accepting a position with the Edmonton Public Schools (they paid her boat fare over to Canada). Alwyn continued to take summer and evening classes at the University of Alberta, to obtain her Bachelor of Education. Alwyn met the love of her life, David Dransfield at a skating party. They were married on December 29, 1962, (recently celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary). Alwyn and David had three daughters, Sandra, Dianne and Kerri, and later moved to Red Deer, Alberta to raise their family. Alwyn enjoyed nature, animals, travelling, and reading. She loved walking her dogs on the trails and having bonfires and visits with her neighbours. She worked part-time for Early Childhood Services, Red Deer Family Day Home and later, for David’s business, Dransfield Inspections Services. Alwyn will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sandra (David Mousseau), Dianne (Eric Stubbs) and Kerri (Brent Gavey), and her four grandchildren, Ryan, Adam, Luke and Violet. A Private Family Ceremony was held at the Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer County, Alberta. The family would like to thank Dr. Kamal Daniel and the Red Deer Hospice for their exceptional care.
