Peter Arthur William Darby was born in 1941 in Worthing, England to parents Violet and Arthur. There he grew up with his parents and his sister June.

As an adult he became a successful international accountant, with clients across Europe.
While on holiday in Canada in 1984, Peter met Gayle Foster through a mutual friend. The couple returned to England where they married and spent the following three years. They moved back to Canada, first settling in Gayle’s hometown of Banff, Alberta, after ten years in Banff, Peter and Gayle relocated to Kelowna, British Columbia where they spent many happy years enjoying the extended months of sunshine. In a final move to be closer to family, Peter and Gayle moved back to Alberta and settled in the town of Olds, where Peter spent his final years.
An avid golfer, chef, bibliophile, and lover of wine, his days were complete when he could enjoy these activities alongside his wife, under the sun. But Peter’s greatest joy was found in spending time with his grandchildren Ashleigh, Austin, Brandyn, and Zachary. Special moments with his grandchildren were always shared in throwing them around a swimming pool or sneaking a morning mint.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Gayle, sister June (Steven & Tina), children Kevin (Kathe), and Craig (Carla) stepchildren Kelly (Conrad), Heather (Rene, Grant, and Tracey. Peter is preceded by his mother Violet, father Arthur, and brother-in-law David Thorpe.

A private family service has been held.
