It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dad, Donald Glendon ‘Donnie’ Turner of Eckville, Alberta on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the age of 62 years, in Drayton Valley, Alberta. Fondly referred to as Donnie, Tilt, or Bub. Donnie was born in Nova Scotia and moved to Alberta in the early 1980’s, where his lifelong career began working in the Oil Patch. The rig was not only his place of work, but his second home and family. As a testament to his hard work and dedication, he left his mark worldwide from Russia to Alberta, and enjoyed telling everyone about it. Outside of work, if you knew him, you probably accompanied him or heard him share stories about his favorite past times. His admiration for the water, boats, and fishing was unwavering, even in the face of seasickness. He loved to build, create, and work with his hands; there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He also enjoyed hunting, sledding in the mountains, riding his motorcycles, flying his RC airplanes, and vacationing. He was the life of the party, cold one in hand, telling stories, bringing laughter, and going the extra mile to help family, friends, or strangers. He was predeceased by parents, Etta (Wes) Westhaver, John (Elsie) Turner, and his brothers, Ford Turner and Tyler Ernst. He will fondly be remembered by his daughters, Samantha and Tashauna McDonald, his granddaughters, Mavie and Nova Mohr, his biological mother, Frances Cosman, his sisters, Zona (Stephen) Hatt, Tracey (Don), Rhonda, his brothers, David (Barb), Dan (Giselle), Johnny, Kevin (Sherry), Wayne (Holly), and Blayne, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. We would like to acknowledge the many incredible friends he called “family”, including Mike, Kevin, Rob, Stan, Sonny, Jeff, Borden, Behr, and Brian, and that’s just mentioning a few. Donnie loved and treasured everyone he met from near and far, and from all walks of life. Honoring Donnie’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. A Celebration of Life may be held at a later date, which is to be determined. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals of Parkland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers or memorial donations, we ask that you help someone in need with a random act of kindness, like he did many times; reflecting his generous spirit and willingness to help others. May the memories of dad’s laughter, kindness, and love comfort those who mourn his passing. Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, and held so dear. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
