Dakota Gunnar Ford, of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Hospital on November 29, 2023, at the age of 36.
Dakota was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on July 31, 1987. While living in Clairmont, he attended Harry Balfour School, the same school his grandma Noreen taught in and his Mother attended. Moving to Sylvan Lake, Dakota spent his happiest years playing hockey with his friends. Living near the lake also gave him the opportunity to find his favourite hobby, fishing. Dakota then moved with his family, to Vegreville, and then to Sherwood Park, where he finished his schooling. After working in Edmonton, Dakota travelled back to Grande Prairie to work in the telecom industry with his family.
Dakota will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Grace and Ken Ford; brothers Kelan Ford (Lindsay Connelly) and Colter Ford (Jamie Sandness); aunts Gry Enger, Fran Coney, and Helen Ford; uncle Doug Ford; cousins Eskil Telge, Grant, David and Duncan Ford, and Darcy and Eldon Coney; and by his nieces Freya Ford, Emma Connelly, and Seanna A. He was predeceased by his grandparents Ross and Noreen Ford, Gunnar Sveinungsgard and Edith Miller; uncle, Dennis Ford; and by his auntie Judy.
A memorial service to celebrate Dakota’s life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Red Deer Legion, 2810 – Bremner Avenue, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Condolences to Dakota’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Ford” in the subject line.
