It is with heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of Gordon Adam Luft on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the age of 90 years. Gordon was born in Didsbury, Alberta in 1933 and was the youngest of six and a twin. He attended Rugby School until grade nine and completed his education in the old brick school in Didsbury, Alberta. Gordon started working in the oil patch while still helping his dad on the farm. His love for farming brought him back to the family farm full time when his dad said the farm was for sale. Gordon purchased the farm from his parents in 1966. He met and married his wife of fifty-four years, Patricia Stephen, in 1969. They raised two boys, Stephen and Michael, on the family farm, 12 miles West of Didsbury, Alberta. Gordon worked eighteen years at the Canadian Superior/Mobil Harmattan Gas Plant, and he retired in 1989 but continued farming until 2009. He and Pat then moved across the road until 2016 when it was decided it was really time to retire and move to Legacy Village in Olds, Alberta. This condo community has brought many happy years to both Gordon and Pat. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Adam and Elizabeth; brothers and sisters, Wilfred (Wilma), Gladys (Dan), Joyce (Elvern), Mildred (Don) and twin brother, Glen.
