It is with great sadness, the family of Evonne Lajeunesse (Blasetti) of Red Deer, Alberta, announce her passing on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the age of 78 years at the Red Deer Hospital with her husband Luc, son Rob and daughter-in-law Trish at her side. Evonne was born in Nottingham, England and immigrated, with her mother, to Nordegg Alberta in 1948 to be with her father Evo (Bucko) and mother Margaret (Marg) Blasetti. After the coal mine closed in Nordegg, the family settled in Red Deer. Evonne graduated from Mount Royal College after completing a Secretarial program. She continued her education completing a Petroleum Technology program offered in the evenings. She spent her entire career working in the oil and gas sector until her retirement.

Evonne married Gary McLean and had her son Robert, the light of her life. Later in life she met and married her best friend, Luc Lajeunesse, spending many years enjoying camping at Nordegg. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Luc, son Robert Mclean (Trish), stepson Blane Lajeunesse (Mary) of North Battleford, her mother-in-law Denise Lajeunesse of Prince Albert, brother Frank Blasetti (Jody) of Red Deer, sister Margaret Heward (Dwight) of Lethbridge, Lynn McLean (Karen) of Carstairs, Cyril Mclean of Cowichan Lake, and many other family members. The family thanks the hospital staff for their care and compassion at this difficult time.

 

There will be no funeral service at Evonne’s request. A Celebration of Life will be announced for a warm day in 2024.
