It’s with deep sadness we share the news of Shirley’s passing on November 5, 2023 in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 86 years. Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan to William and Margaret Katzell she was the 3rd youngest of seven siblings. Shirley came to Olds in 1954 to help her older sisters families.
Lloyd and Shirley were marred October 21, 1955. In 1966 Lloyd and Shirley purchased the farm west of Olds. There, along with her husband Lloyd, she raised three children and built the farm that stands today. Over the years they had dairy cattle, a mixed herd of cattle and always crop in the ground. Shirley enjoyed spending time on the farm with her five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was always happy to visit with neighbor’s and truly valued the lifelong relationships she had with them. She took great pride in it.
She leaves behind her three children Ken(Shirley), Gordon(Martha) and Brenda. Her sister-in-law Margaret Zimmerman and brother-in-law Dale Zimmerman.
Her grandchildren Jolene (Drew), Stephanie (Dennis), Cody (Mya), Brittani (Aaron) and Daniel (Megan) Her great grandchildren Etta, Javen, Alyna, James, Rigg, Wesley, Alexandria, Adelaine and Alice. Truly missed by Brenda’s dog Cuddles. Numerous Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd her parents William and Margaret Katzell and her in-laws Gottlieb and Elsie Zimmerman. Her siblings and brother-in-law Wallace Zimmerman.
