Mr. Garnet Best Medicraft of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the age of 82 years. Garnet was born and raised in South Alton, Nova Scotia, the son of the late Harris and Hilda (nee Best) Medicraft.
Garnet worked for the Kentville Police Service, drove a school bus, ran a Sawmill, worked his own Logging business, and Backhoe Service, among many other jobs before deciding to head west to Alberta, where he spent the last thirty plus years. Garnet loved the outdoors, particularly hunting, but his favorite pastime was visiting with his family and many friends. He enjoyed new experiences and was always up for the next adventure. He was often heard saying, “You can do anything you put your mind to.” Garnet will always be happily remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. His sharp wit and incredible sense of humor will always be remembered by everyone who was fortunate to have him in their lives. Garnet will be lovingly remembered by his children, Sherry (Mike), Sylvia, (John) and Stephen (Michelle); his nine grandchildren, Riley, Jamie, Regan, Vaughan, Vince, Michelle, Sam, Harris and Belle, and his two great grandchildren, Estelle and Silas. Garnet was predeceased by his sisters, Beatrice Schofield, Velma Fraser, Lila Aalders, Anna Nickerson and his brother, Wayne.
