It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Gloria Rhoda Collinge (nee Rau) announce the passing of their mother and matriarch. Gloria passed away quietly, while sleeping, into the loving arms of her dear Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the age of 87 years. Gloria was born to Gottlieb and Freida (nee Berreth) Rau on October 16, 1936 at the family homestead at Beiseker, Alberta. Gloria was dedicated to her faith. She was the leader of the Abee United Church Youth Group and, as a layman, loved to preach Sunday Services. She spent countless hours praying for others. Gloria loved to sing and play the piano. She was a talented seamstress, and her knitting and quilting projects were of the highest quality. Gloria was blessed with six children and their spouses, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Frank Sr., her daughter, Lynda, her sister, Ella and her four brothers, James, Marvin, Vernie, and Sydney. The family would like to acknowledge Points West Living, Red Deer for the kind and dedicated care that Gloria received over the last few years. Gloria will be deeply missed but will be lovingly carried in the hearts of her family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Gloria’s honor may be made directly to a Charity of the Donor’s choice.
