Our beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Alex Robert Drover passed away unexpectedly, in Red Deer Alberta, on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the age of 56 years. Alex was born in Botwood, Newfoundland to Alex and Roberta Drover, in 1966. He moved to Calgary as a young man, and to Red Deer in 2004. Alex was relentlessly curious by nature and possessed an impressive ability to learn new skills. He was passionate about vehicle mechanics, building, and utilizing his creativity in his projects, such as creating a boat from plastic pop bottles. He was also very proud of being a fundamental part of inventing prototypes for Mining equipment, in his earlier years. These skills were handed down to his son, Brad, as they would spend quality time together working on many projects. His son, Ryan also worked with them on some jobs. He was so proud when his sons worked with him. He enjoyed all music, especially country music, as well as fishing, being in nature, playing card games, and board games. Alex loved all animals, especially his Black Lab named Coal, that went everywhere with him. He loved talking with people of all walks of life, his friendliness unmatched; and he would offer anyone a helping hand if they needed it. His warm spirit would light up any room he was in, as he was the one at gatherings keeping the laughs, conversation, and good times flowing. The way Alex loved his family and friends truly reflected that love is patient, unconditional, forgiving, and abundant. This love was a gift that Alex gave us and is now what lives on in our hearts. Alex will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Julie Ramsdale; his children, Brad (Michelle Clay) Drover, Ryan Ambrose, Amanda Ramsdale, Coltyn Ramsdale; his mother, Roberta Drover; his sister, Tina (Juan) Herrera; his grandchildren, Zoey, Lexi, Avlin and Kaden; his nephew, Luke (Herrera Drover); his niece, Josee (Herrera Drover); his extended Drover and Temple families; and many friends. Alex was predeceased by his father, Alex Drover in 1982, and his stepfather, Leonard Pinsent in 2021. A Celebration of Alex’s Life will be held at a later date. If desired, Memorial Donations in Alex’s honor may be made directly to a Charity of the Donor’s choice. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
