It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Micheal (Mike) Brent Jackson on November 3, 2023, at the age of 63. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Mike was born on August 12, 1960, in Didsbury AB to Art and Dorothy Jackson. He grew up on a farm north of Didsbury, where his passion for farming blossomed. Throughout his life, Mike continued to work on the Jackson farm, raising cows, and pigs, and tending to the grains. He found true happiness in the simplicity and honesty of a hard day’s work.
A lifelong love for hockey was deeply ingrained in Mike. From a young age, he thrived in the game, playing for the Didsbury Ramblers and Carstairs Elks. Even as a spectator, Mike’s enthusiasm for hockey never wavered, as he tirelessly cheered on his beloved Boston Bruins. His passion for the sport extended to his son and grandsons, whom he passionately supported and rarely missed their games. Additionally, Mike happily supported his wife, daughters, and granddaughter in their love for dance. He was an integral part of the dance community through his involvement in watching, building, and helping with dance props.
Mike’s compassionate nature was evident in his dedication to helping those in need. He generously supported various causes, both through financial contributions and volunteering his time and talent.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn, their children Elisha Jackson, Kasandra Schwandt (Troy), Kristopher Jackson, and his grandchildren Abigail, Jackson, and Jason. He is also survived by his brothers Randy Jackson (Cindy), Robert Jackson (Amy), Darrel Jackson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 19, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. at the Didsbury Elks Hall. In memory of Mike, donations can be made to the Prostate Cancer Centre in support of the Man Van in rural communities.
