Retired and adventurous, Ruth’s love of life didn’t end with her death. Ruth passed away at her home in Clearwater County on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the age of 80 years. Ruth was surrounded by her beloved trees, and the loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy, by living their lives to the fullest. She was born to John and Elene Johnson on June 19, 1943, in Lethbridge, Alberta. Ruth was born an adventurist. Her love of riding the neighbor’s horse as a teenager put the wind in her hair, which led her on her journey with the need to find out where she belonged. She had a genuine love for trees, lots of trees. She lived in several places but loved Red Deer and its beauty. She had chosen her adventures, dragging six kids behind her, while supporting her husband and the business. Her passion for learning was her aid in leading the way. She returned to school, became a clown, and became the leader in her professional life. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Mom. She loved quiet evenings with family and friends sitting around a campfire visiting. She always had time for a coffee. Ruth had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily duties. Music was in her soul, and she always danced and sang. Her best dances were performed in front of a Las Vegas slot machine. She took time to notice the spring flowers, and the squirrels playing in the thick of the spring growth. Ruth had a passion for people, was always kind to people, and her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met, including her own family. She finally found the peace she sought when she bought an acreage in Clearwater County, with a home among the trees, dancing squirrels, and deer visiting her front door. Home is where the heart is! The people in her life gathered at the acreage to have coffee, camp out, or watch the stars. You were at home! Generations and dear friends will lovingly remember Ruth. She leaves to mourn, her children, Allan Hermary, Mary-Lynn (Ronnie) Roth, Debbie Simser (Brad Johnson), Kerri Hermary, Dana Street (Jim Chow), and Cindy-Lou Brenna (Brian Oaks); her fourteen grandchildren, whom she helped raise in the order in which they arrived, Chris-Tina, Sherri-Lynn, Taryn-Dawn, Travis, Ryan, Tara-Rose, Vickie Lee, Justin, Crystal, Bryanna, Allishia, Katrina, Brandin and Brodie; her twenty great grandchildren, Jesse, Jaiden, Lazirah, Shelby-Lynn, Preston, Chloe F., Mackenzie, Jacob, Kamilo, Cailey, Chloe R., Raedyn, Presley, Amelliana, Amara, Andrew, Hudson, Kinsley, Ashley, and Adena; and her great great grandson, Ethan. She will also be sadly missed by her beloved sisters, Margret (Tony), Dorothy (Fred), and Elizabeth (Doug); her special friends, Timmy, who had always watched over her, Cecilia, and Tony; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Louie; her beloved parents, Elene and John; her unique sisters, Nancy, Evelyn, and Gladys; her special life friends, Vicky, Cheryl Ann, Linda, Benny, and Margaret H.; several ladies of The Loyal Order of Moose, many cousins, and her niece, Deanna.
